FRIDAY March 4, 2022
ATTENDEES: Shelley-Cordia, Alice-Park District, Mark-Terra Vista, Dan Sr. Helping Sr, Nancy-Hearing Clare Clinic, Terri-Aspired, Mary-Birches, Katie-At Home 4 You, Amanda- DuPage Sr. Council, John-ARC, Julianne-Oasis, Larry Forsberg-Chamber
MEETING SPONSOR: JULIANNE RIZZO OASIS SENIOR ADVISORS
Julianne is Southwest Chicago area advisor for Oasis Senior Advisors. Her region covers, Westmont, Oak Brook south to Mokena and east to the Lake. She is a nurse and has her MBA. She got into this business after having to negotiate helping her parents when they got older and needed help. She felt the process was confusing, overwhelming but also cutthroat. She wanted to help people in a better way. She is a problem solver and is a placement specialist. Her fees are not paid by her clients but rather by the facility where they move to. Mary and Terri both had very good things to say about Julianne and how she handles the process of placing a loved one in a facility.
SENIOR EXPO COMMITTEE- Dan Rattary, Mary Ferguson, Mark Davis
They have been meeting to organize the expo. They have reached out to Rep Mazzochi but haven’t heard back yet. The Expo will be Friday May 6th 8:30-12:30 at the Westmont Park District. They have a list of 20 potential exhibitors. There will be 5 presentations, each 15 minutes long, with Q & A after. The list of presenters is: Fire Dept- home safety, Aspired Living-Parkinson’s, Terra Vista-Dementia 101, Seniors Helping Seniors-Home help, Independence for Seniors- diabetes. Dan is requesting presenters send him your presentation slides ahead of the expo.
Flyers and posters are done. Please take some to display in your office. Please get an electronic copy and post it on all of your social media accounts and website.
Alice has gotten the Secretary of State Mobile Unit to be onsite for expo.
Alice also has the park district’s senior art group scheduled to display their works.
All vendors are requested to have a raffle prize
Mary will be sending out request for someone to bring balloons, plastic table clothes, pre-packaged snacks
Mark will be sending out an exhibit form for all to fill out with pertinent information. Please fill out and return to Mark directly. If you need electricity, mark it on the form.
We will be placing a vendor contact list as well as the SRC Brochure in the bags.
All vendors can bring a 1 page flyer to next meeting to be placed in bag.
SRC BROCHURE- With the increase in membership, we will need to condense the entries in the brochure. Please review your entry to see how you can shorten. DO THIS BY END OF MARCH
DRURY LANE SENIOR EXPO IS BACK ON AND WILL BE August 23-24. More info to come
The purpose of this committee is to promote chamber businesses/organizations whose products, services and resources are for senior citizens and their families. This committee will also keep like minded businesses informed on local resources that can be useful to them and to share business leads.
